Video tag is used to attach videos to the Web Page. You might remember the days that when you tried to open a video on youtube, you would get an error asking you to install the Flash Plugin in order to watch videos on Youtube. Not only on youtube, but on millions of websites if you ever wanted to see or put any video, 3rd party tools with Flash being most prominent were the only method to do so.
HTML5 puts an end to the whole career of softwares like Flash. From videos to animations the work being done by Flash can all now be done in HTML5 alone. This is also recorded as a huge setback to the software and its firm. There might be intentional reasons for making HTML5 hugely capable but for sure it also ended the dependencies on various other tools, which were quite essential till HTML 4.01. Video tag is most used to watch movie clips, video streams, or other uploaded videos without depending on any plugin or tool. Currently, the supported video formats for the video tag are -- MP4, WebM, and Ogg.
Following is the example about video:
<video width="400" controls> <source src="someVideo.mp4"> </video>
